Statement
Modern Slavery statement
The Government requires every website to make a statement about slavery. This is mine.
The truth about slavery is not black and white
In common with the average Brit, I have always associated the word "slavery" almost exclusively with the Atlantic slave trade . Not only that, as a white * person I have always felt, or been made to feel, somehow complicit, as if it was a kind of organised national effort that everyone was involved in and that we all benefited from.
But does this narrative we have absorbed represent a full and accurate account of the history of slavery in the British Isles?
Is it even the whole story regarding the Atlantic slave trade?
The answer to both these questions is an undisputable and emphatic NO.

1. ^ Labelling people in this manner is beyond ridiculous. I am light pink in the winter and brown in the summer. The precise shade of brown is dependent on the weather. The label is inaccurate and ultimately meaningless.
